Publishers Note: Thanks, so much for your GREAT efforts Rachel – to help Educate Us ALL!

– John Malloy, Publisher of The Canadian

From a very young age Rachel showed true compassion for the protection of animals, she also attended a small school that nurtured and encouraged caring for others by performing for the less fortunate, and elderly, including singing and playing guitar with the York Region Police choir.

rp-grocWhen Rachel was 12 years old, she had to do a speech for all the students at her School in Aurora, on a topic that would be of interest to her.  Rachel struggled trying to decide among topics such as GMOs, Animal Cruelty, Poverty in Canada and Global Deforestation. She decided on GMOs because of the opportunity to change so many lives, to better everyone’s health, and help improve our overburdened health care system.  Rachel understood that GMOs are affecting the entire planet, from humans to bees, the earth, and kids’ futures.  The topic of GMOs was a natural choice, as the situation was urgent and needed immediate attention. She won a medal for her speech.IMGP9520-300x199

Rachel then went on to prepare a speech for a live audience at a Right to Know event in Toronto and created a video which was posted to YouTube, urgently warning children about the dangers of GMOs.  One of her last projects included the baking of a massive 48” fresh apple pie, made without GMO Ingredients, which she brought to St James Park to share with those less fortunate. Rachel is also engaged in various activities, such as voiceover classes, guitar, dance and every year she attends an animal sanctuary rescue camp, to help with the care of tigers, monkey’s and lemurs.

For Rachel the GMO topic is personal as she has in the past traveled to Northern areas of South America, and Brazil’s Amazon, sensitive areas that are now being devastated for the planting of GM Soy.

Thank you for the excellent article! Rachel’s dedication to this issue is inspirational.

This is truly one of the most important issues we face as a species. I believe the impact of GMOs will be far reaching and we are just experiencing the tip of the iceberg at this point.

With strong advocates such as Rachel on board, I hope we can educate enough people to turn this situation around.

      Dear Julie,
It means a whole lot to me that you took time out of you busy schedule to write a note in support of our cause. You are so inspiring to all of us, and I know that you have travelled the activist path against GMOs before. This problem is like a cancer for our planet. I call it Cancer Monsanto, or Bully Monsanto. I’m so concerned that I can’t stop until something is done, and labels are in place. One of the greatest ways for me to help is to educate other children. Unfortunately, Monsanto has infiltrated our schools, influencing subjects like Science, educating the children to believe that Bio Tech is the only and best way, and that is very wrong. I feel sad to see the world being so blind to this dark reality, yet I gain strength when I receive support from individuals like you. Thank you for everything you do. I hope you can join our GMO Kids Right to Know Rally scheduled for late spring.

What a bright young woman! You were so poised in your interview with Kevin O’Leary. You obviously are more educated and informed than he is. Sorry his daughter did research and still uninformed. Maybe one day there is hope for her understanding! Thank you so much for using your intelligence in a good way. Bless you Rachel and keep up the fight for the good of our children and grandchildren. You were 100% correct in all that you said and Mr OLeary could learn from you if he would only open his mind! So proud of you Rachel! Keep learning and sharing! GMO’s are harming our health and I see it every day. Dr’s see it and say that don’t know what is causing the problems, but I do. I would rather not eat corn than eat the GMO—don’t they get it. I would allow them their foolish choice to continue to eat things that are poisoning them. I would rather error on the side of not eating it than being told that over the years it destroyed me because I did eat it. If it is labeled more folks would choose to eat what is not GMO while we can still find any.

          Well said, Jeanne …

      Thanks again

Good article. I’ve been anti-Monsanto crusader for a long time. I always refer to Monsanto as the evil Darth Vader of agriculture.

  • Ted

Dear Rachel Parent, August 04, 2013

My name is Ted who is living inside the forest. When you live inside and with nature you are able to see and to notice much more anomalies than in the city. Your web blog website “GMO-News.com is showing one interesting picture from the header flush with a young girl holding poster in her hands: “I am not a science experiment”. All people behind supporting against GMO protest on this picture look unshaped with their bodies’ proportions like overweighed, no proper body size to the length of limbs. It is true that majority of them are consuming GMO products by years because lack of normal food. Now if you compare this picture with “Rats” one, there is a question: are some of demonstrators from this pictures have some tumors’ development in their bodies like ….? If you go to Walmart’s parking and Yorkdale Mall’s parking you will easy notice contrast of abnormality and disproportions between customers.
On your last TV show on July 31st, 2013 I noticed that nothing was said about the depletion of nutrients and vitamins in GMO products comparing to the ones from nature and additionally something extra what is probably producing tumors and obesity by body toxicity. According to the below table – the GMO products have toxins inside their structure. I found very interesting information from my private library and it is as follow:
Analysis Finds Monsanto’s GM Corn Nutritionally Dead & Highly Toxic
Is GMO corn nutritionally equivalent to non-GMO corn? Monsanto will tell you the answer is a big ‘yes’, but the real answer is absolutely not. And the simple reality is that they are continuing to get away with their blatant misinformation. In fact, a 2012 nutritional analysis of genetically modified corn found that not only is GM corn lacking in vitamins and nutrients when compared to non-GM corn, but the genetic creation also poses numerous health risks due to extreme toxicity.
With the recent passing of the Monsanto Protection Act, there is no question that mega corporations like Monsanto are able to wield enough power to even surpass that of the United States government. The new legislation provides Monsanto with a legal safeguard against federal courts striking down any pending review of dangerous GM crops. It is ironic to see the passing of such a bill in the face of continuous releases of GMO dangers.
Non-GMO Corn 20x Richer in Nutrition than GMO Corn
The 2012 report, entitled 2012 Nutritional Analysis: Comparison of GMO Corn versus Non-GMO Corn, found numerous concerning and notable differences between GMO and non-GMO corn, none of which are particularly surprising. First, the report found that non-GMO corn has considerably more calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, iron, and zinc.
    • Non-GMO corn has 6130 ppm of calcium while GMO corn has 14 – non-GMO corn has 437 times more calcium.
    • Non-GMO corn has 113 ppm of magnesium while GMO corn has 2 – non-GMO corn has about 56 times more magnesium.
    • Non-GMO corn has 113 ppm of potassium while GMO corn has 7 – non-GMO corn has 16 times more potassium.
    • Non-GMO corn has 14 ppm of manganese while GMO corn has 2 – non-GMO corn has 7 times more manganese.
As far as energy content goes, non-GMO corn was found to ‘emit 3,400 times more energy per gram, per second compared to GMO corn’. The paper found that non-GMO corn is 20 times richer in nutrition, energy and protein compared to GMO corn.
GMO Corn Also Found to be Highly Toxic
Not surprisingly, the report found what many of us already know – that GMO corn is highly toxic. While non-GMO corn was found to be free of chlorides, formaldehyde, glyphosate (active ingredient in Monsanto’s best selling herbicide Roundup), and other toxic substances, GMO corn is riddled with these toxins.
Based on the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations, the maximum amount of glyphosate allowed in drinking water is 700 parts per billion, which equates to .7 ppm. The amount is a set “level of protection based on the best available science to prevent potential health problems”. Europe allows even less glyphosate in water, at .2 ppm. The report found that GMO corn contains 13 ppm – that’s 18.5x the “safe amount” set by the EPA.
Similarly, GMO corn contains concerning levels of toxic formaldehyde, at 200 ppm. According to Dr. Don Huber, a respected expert on GMOs, at least one study found that 0.97 ppm of ingested formaldehyde was toxic to animals. The GMO corn was found to contain 200 times more formaldehyde than this ‘maximum’ safety amount.

Next important thing that you are not mentioning yet is out of the balance (like GMO mushrooms’ production) of the wireless towers around the world (watch documentary movie “Full Signal”) . This is faster and more effective way of killing us than GMO.

I like in your speeches: clarity of voice, emphasizing ideas and having enough courage at this age to debate anyone. Your fillings, emotions and truth are more valid than billionaires who are involved in dirty businesses.

Good luck in your new high school. I am showing your public appearance to my child as an example of proper way to express their feelings. You can be proud of yourself and your parents.

God Bless more young people like you.

Thank you for speaking out for the millions of us who have the same views but do not have the courage, energy, or time to fight for our rights. Unfortunately the baby boomer generation is a generation of sheeple, programmed via the media and educational system to believe our government would do no harm to our citizens. Thankfully with this new media (internet) we now have the opportunity to have access to to the truth and communicate with people who are willing to stand up to these talking heads and expose them as the idiots they are. I no longer watch cbc or any other news network other than RT. I will continue to follow your efforts via the internet and share your message with all my family and friends. Watch your back as you have elected to take on a very dangerous cause and am sure the powers to be will be coming after you. You are a very brave young lady and I thank you again and May God Bless and protect you and yours.

  • Martin Stavenhagen from Cologne, Germany

    Dear Rachel,
I just saw your interview on CBC (on YouTube). I loved it! You made your point (which, btw, I completely agree with – more transparency, and responsible and independent long-term scientific testing for any current or future GMO foods), and you made it well. More importantly, you made it within (and despite) a largely uninformed and sometimes even stupid adversarial climate. I wish you all the luck and strength and success in the world for this most important cause for a sustainable life for everybody. You have one more supporter. Thank you.
